About Pitsea Running Club
Welcome to the Pitsea Running Club website. We hope it will help you to find out a bit more about us.

Pitsea Running Club was started in 1984, by half a dozen "joggers" all interested in running and keeping fit. Membership has grown steadily to its present total of just over one hundred.

Originally called Pitsea Joggers, we used to meet on a Friday evening in the car park in Gloucester Park, then as membership increased the running improved, our name progressed to Pitsea Road Runners in September 1984 and our Friday night venue moved to Basildon Rugby Club.

After a couple of years, we outgrew our venue and changed base to the Fitness Workshop in Pitsea Market where we stayed for three years and enjoyed some success in local races. During our time there the club expanded into cross country and other forms of running and after some lengthy discussion we changed our name to Pitsea Running Club on 18th November 1988. In September 2008 we moved back to our previous home Basildon Rugby Club.

The club consists of beginners to seasoned athletes and prides itself on its friendly atmosphere which it keenly maintains. We also encourage a strong social side with various functions organised throughout the year.

The club is involved in local cross country leagues, the Essex League (Saturday afternoons) and the South Essex Cross Country League (Sunday mornings). The season starts in October and ends in March and are for both men and women.

We hope this gives you some idea of our club. If you feel that you would like to become a member why not come along to one of our training nights and try us out, we maybe just what you are looking for.
